Terry Williams
BBC Music Magazine, February 2017

Of today’s younger conductors, Daniel Harding is fast becoming a Mahlerian to reckon with, and this is a terrific performance, spaciously recorded. …an exceptional Mahler experience caught in the moment, it is irresistible. © 2017 BBC Music Magazine

Fanfare, March 2016

…this new release offers very good audio, excellent playing, and a guarantee that you won’t need to self-medicate to calm your nerves. © 2016 Fanfare Read complete review

The WholeNote, February 2016

Daniel Harding makes all the right moves in this new recording of Mahler’s mighty Sixth Symphony, scrupulously following the letter of the score and observing every indicated tempo fluctuation with considerable élan, but what really caught my attention was the magnificent, totally committed playing of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. © 2016 The Wholenote Read complete review

Jean-Yves Duperron
Classical Music Sentinel, February 2016

…there are many elements that Daniel Harding brings out in this performance that I had never heard or noticed beforehand. There is an enormous ammount of activity in the background of this score that he seems to bring forward a bit more than usual and to great effect, most particularly the somewhat menacing aspect to the sound of the low brass and woodwind instruments at various points of the work. That effect, most impressively done during the final two minutes of the symphony, will send shivers down your back, just as the symphony breathes its final, convulsive gasp. © 2016 Classical Music Sentinel Read complete review

Remy Franck
Pizzicato, October 2015

Daniel Harding conducts a very dramatic, yet emotionally sober version of Mahler’s Sixth. Anyone who can live without the normal emotional turmoil in this work, will like the brilliant and transparent Bavarian sound. © 2015 Pizzicato

Simon Thompson
MusicWeb International, October 2015

Daniel Harding hasn’t done much Mahler on disc so far, though what he has recorded has been significant… This is his first recorded Sixth, and it’s very good. He is partnered brilliantly by the Bavarian RSO, who do a great job of bringing the composer’s and the conductor’s vision to life. The recording engineers play their part, too, with brilliantly inclusive recorded sound that manages to take in the whole scope of the score as well as illuminating its details. © 2015 MusicWeb International Read complete review
