Tim Pfaff
Bay Area Reporter, March 2016

…the entire concert—which begins with Mozart concert arias—and documentary are pretty jaw-dropping. © 2016 Bay Area Reporter Read complete review

Opera News, November 2015

The concert finds Hannigan leading the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in an eclectic but oddly coherent program: it feels like a seventy-one-minute tour of her musical world. © 2015 Opera News Read complete review

Opera Canada, September 2015

…the major surprise for those not acquainted with Hannigan’s multi-tasking mastery will be that she both sings and conducts, often at the same time. Conducting is such a depressingly male-dominated field that it still seems unusual to see a female conductor stride to the podium, but once Hannigan raises her hands (no baton here), her command of the orchestra is never in doubt. As a singer, she is known for her incredible sense of rhythm and lively body movements, features that cross over into her conducting with superb results. © 2015 Opera Canada

The WholeNote, September 2015

…a stunning look at a stunning artist and consummate musician. Not to be missed. © 2015 The WholeNote Read complete review

Chris Morgan
Scene Magazine, July 2015

It’s a real treat to watch this exceptional woman accomplish thrice over what most people can only achieve once. Her commitment as a performer, a vocalist and a conductor are beyond reproach, and any doubt that all three can be accomplished by one person will be quashed by this presentation. An engaging presentation on a fascinating subject. © 2015 Scene Magazine Read complete review

Paul E. Robinson
Musical Toronto, June 2015

Barbara Hannigan…has astonished audiences everywhere with her tour de force performances of György Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre in which, dressed as the lead character (shiny black miniskirt and stiletto boots) she simultaneously sings and conducts this fiendishly difficult score. Classical music has never seen anything like it and this new DVD captures this phenomenon brilliantly for the ages. © 2015 Musical Toronto Read complete review
