David J Baker
Opera News, August 2018

Under German conductor Cornelius Meister, the musical performance is consistently confident, polished and spirited. Anglo—French mezzo Anna Stéphany, while lacking ideally ample tone in Charlotte’s lower passages, sings with flexibility and considerable beauty. In the role of her younger sister, Sophie, Mélissa Petit offers bell-like tone and exuberance. The director makes Albert unusually forceful in his jealousy, but baritone Audun Iversen sings the role more mildly. © 2018 Opera News Read complete review

Director Tatjana Gürbaca and designer Klaus Grünberg have transformed Massenet’s masterpiece into a compelling drama that glues you to the edge of your seat from start to finish. © 2018 BBC Music Magazine

Florez is happily partnered with the excellent Anna Stephany as Charlotte. Though a mezzo-soprano, she has a bright, free sound that soars easily into the role’s higher tessitura. She is also a compelling actress. © 2018 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

The British mezzo Anna Stéphany sings an accomplished Charlotte, dignified, contained, her lines sensitively phrased and coloured. Audun Iversen is ever-reliable as Albert, while Mélissa Petit succeeds in making Sophie less annoying than usual, fully aware of the implications of what’s unfolding. © 2018 Gramophone   Read complete review on Gramophone

Uwe Krusch
Pizzicato, April 2018

This is one overall very convincing performance in which the staging oscillates between reality and dream worlds. Florez is a nearly perfect performer for the role of Werther, Stéphany provides a sublime contrast. The music is played colourfully and with a lot of finesse. © 2018 Pizzicato
