Alan Becker
American Record Guide, July 2017

The challenges for violinists performing the original pieces are great. Liszt’s piano transcriptions are uncannily pianistic and sound wonderful. Waleczek holds nothing back. ‘La Campanella’, perhaps the best known of the etudes, is tossed off with seeming simplicity. Even the great Simon Barere makes us aware of the effort required. Here is playing that rarely pushes the tone or applies a little more stress to get through the difficulties. © 2017 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Adrian Corleonis
Fanfare, July 2017

Waleczek’s go at the 1851 Paganini Études, if workmanlike, has its moments, though he engages more avidly with their initial 1838 versions. …Waleczek’s tilt yields serviceable pleasure, …[His] uncredited instrument is closely, gutsily captured and buxomly detailed in large hall ambience. © 2017 Fanfare Read complete review
