Jerry Dubins
Fanfare, March 2018

Skovhus is in top form, singing as beautifully as I’ve ever heard him. He never hoots, hollers, or sounds hollow… Nor are there any annoying mannerisms in Skovhus’s readings. There’s just an outpouring of pure, honeyed tone, always in tune and always in perfect rhythm. This should not be taken to mean, however, that Skovhus is lacking in interpretive insight or emotional expression. Listen to his delivery of the words “Ich stand in dunkeln Träumen” (I stand in dark dreams) at the beginning of “Ihr Bild” (Her Portrait).

This is a masterful and magnificent performance of Schwanengesang and the additional Seidl songs. Skovhus and Vladar easily go to the top of the list. Urgently recommended. © 2018 Fanfare Read complete review

Skovhus is an intelligent interpreter and here, even more than in Die schöne Müllerin, he adopts a lightness of tone in many of the Seidl songs that make them very intimate.

[His] voice is still in mint condition and the interplay between singer and pianist is admirable. © 2017 MusicWeb International Read complete review
