Michael De Sapio
Fanfare, March 2017

This is a “traditional” performance of its time, with no perceptible nods towards “historically informed” style. That’s not to say the performance is not stylish in its own way. Indeed, it has a great deal of spirit. The orchestra is not overlarge, the phrasing is limpid and pliable. The fast movements overflow with energy and the slow movements have a sweet sentiment. The solo work is fine, with some particular sensitive violin playing from Roland Straumer. The recorded sound is bright and vivid. © 2017 Fanfare Read complete review

Ralph Graves
WTJU, December 2016

Michael’s Serenade showcases various instruments, adding variety and interest to the proceedings. Violin, cello, flute, horn, and trombone all get some time in the spotlight. The Virtuosi Saxoniae perform in a slightly reserved fashion appropriate to the style. This was music designed to pass the time with pleasant listening, and in that it succeeds. © 2016 WTJU Read complete review
