musica Dei donum, November 2016

MOZART, W.A.: Litaniae lauretanae / Church Sonata No. 16 / Vesperae solennes de Dominica (New College Oxford Choir, Collegium Novum, Higginbottom) NCR1388
MOZART, W.A.: Missa brevis, K. 275 / Church Sonatas (The Salzburg Marian Mass) (National Forum of Music Choirs, Kosendiak) CDAccordACD215

Edward Higginbottom has chosen two ambitious works with quite virtuosic solo parts, in particular for soprano, whereas Andrzej Kosendiak attempted a reconstruction of the musical elements of a Mass in Salzburg around one of Mozart’s missae breves.

The music on these two discs is all from the same pen but different in size and stature. I very much enjoyed both discs and I would urge any lover of Mozart’s music to add them to their collection. © 2016 musica Dei donum Read complete review

J. F. Weber
Fanfare, January 2016

Kosendiak, the director of the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, has an excellent grasp of the Mozarean style. His Baroque ensemble consists here of four strings, three trombones, and a lovely little chest organ. The NFM boys’ choir and about six men of the NFM choir form the singing ensemble. All of these performers execute the music with aplomb, with an Ave verum corpus that is as fine as any I have ever heard. © 2015 Fanfare Read complete review
