Rich Brunner
Choral Journal, December 2014

In the Victoria, there is seamless singing…The polyphony is delightfully rendered, but even more exquisite are the homophonic passages in the Gloria. The Schola’s tone is impeccable and well suited to Renaissance polyphony.

Bach’s Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf and Liszt’s Ave Maria are both sung with freedom and care, clarity and musical precision. © 2014 Choral Journal

Fanfare, November 2013

…the strengths of this program are its variety, and the freshness of the ensemble’s singing, which is nevertheless wedded to a very mature discipline and sensitivity. The stylistic gear shifts are smoothly handled. Having said that, I must add that the finest moments on this disc, at least for me, come in the Bach motet, which bubbles over with the singers’ apparent delight in Bach’s inventiveness…these young musicians deserve recognition and support, and this program should bring enjoyment and even inspiration to a wide range of listeners… © 2013 Fanfare Read complete review

Philip Greenfield
American Record Guide, September 2013

By and large, it was a lovely concert. The Victoria Mass is lush, full-bodied, and gorgeously phrased. Christopher Theofanidis’s settings of texts by Whitman, Rumi, Yeats, and his friend Amy Kirsten are clever and highly personable, and this is as handsome a Liszt ‘Ave Maria’ as you’re likely to hear. © 2013 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Donald Rosenberg
Gramophone, September 2013

Each score contains richly expressive material that tests the concentration and cohesion of its interpreters. As led with meticulous attention to words, balances and harmonic implications by Simon Carrington, the choir’s former director, the performances are fresh, articulate and poised. © Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone
