Jason Victor Serinus
Bay Area Reporter, December 2015

The opening track “Veni, Emmanuel,” in an arrangement by Cappella SF artistic director-conductor Ragnar Bohlin, is supremely graceful. The singing is as beautiful as one would expect from a chamber choir founded by the conductor of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, and the recording, by David Bowles (conductor Nicholas McGegan’s husband) of Swineshead Productions, superb. © 2015 Bay Area Reporter

Madison Magazine, December 2015

…offers a wide range of beautiful Christmas vocal works, from medieval to a world premiere by Bohlin’s compatriot, Fredrik Sixten. There is also a classical slant to the repertoire with two stunning excerpts from Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols. The twenty-four-member chamber choir is exquisite in its shading and control, and it is already a disc I turn to over and over again in this joyous season. © 2015 Madison Magazine Read complete review

American Record Guide, November 2015

…The arrangements are all handsome realizations of the original melodies… I love this warm and wistful ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’. Even ‘Silent Night’—almost always wrecked by over-zealous arrangers— retains its chastity in Hanns Miessner’s affectionate version. © 2015 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Naxos of America offers the best holiday music on CD and Blu-ray

Bohlin founded Cappella SF, a professional chamber choir, in 2014. Since then, this select Bay Area ensemble has presented four acclaimed concerts and recorded music for two CDs—including this, their first commercial disc. Spanning more than a millennium, this holiday program has something for everyone: traditional seasonal standards, original compositions and arrangements from English and American composers, as well as leading choral masters from Bohlin’s native Sweden, including a piece composed for Cappella SF by Fredrik Sixten that’s heard here in its world premiere recording. © 2015 Examiner.com

Pizzicato, September 2015

Varied program with Christmas songs, vividly sung by the excellent San Francisco Symphony Chorus. © 2015 Pizzicato

Infodad.com, July 2015

The singing is uniformly smooth, elegant and beautifully blended, whether the choir is holding forth in Latin or English, in centuries-old music or contemporary works. © 2015 Infodad.com Read complete review
