David Allen
The New York Times, July 2016

[Performers] are fully committed in Tchaikovsky’s Fourth and Fifth, …facing down the fates in the Fifth with brisk nonchalance. …Stravinsky’s “Apollon Musagète,” shows that Mr. van Zweden can do tenderness, too. © 2016 The New York Times Read complete review

Brian Wigman
Classical Net, July 2013

The symphony is incredibly exciting; a red-hot, spur-of-the-moment occasion that is thankfully forever ours to own. Taken as a performance, there’s little on the market that’s this good, least of all live.

The coupling is a treat; Tchaikovsky’s Suites get almost zero attention from anyone. To see it shared with such a fine reading of the symphony is nothing less than having your cake and eating it, too…the Dallas orchestra plays magnificently.

…this is a worthy tribute to one of America’s hidden gems. © 2013 Classical Net Read complete review
