Alide Kohlhaas
The Seniors Review, October 2013

Georgette Heyer’s Faro’s Daughter has come out as an audio book in an abridged version. Read by Laura Paton with style and panache, the story centers on the battle of wills between a young woman whose livelihood depends on her aunt’s gaming house, and the wealthy Max Ravenscar. Her objects to her association with his aristocratic family. The novel, set around the time when King George II was still on the throne, has been seamlessly abridged by Caroline Waight and does not in the least bit suffer from having been shortened. © 2013 The Seniors Review
