…taken on its own terms, Michael Grandage’s production is very fine.

In the pit, Robin Ticciati paces almost everything superbly, with good, flowing speeds for the letter duet and ‘Deh vieni’. There are no weak links in the predominantly young cast…Sally Matthews as the Countess is outstanding in ‘Dove sono’…it’s highly enjoyable. © 2013 Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone

My Classical Notes, July 2013

What is really great in this production of Figaro is how its characters are brought to life in this excellent Glyndebourne production.

Vito Priante is terrific as Figaro, and I loved Lydia Teuscher is a lovely and delicate Susanna. Sally Matthews gives us a wonderful melancholic Countess where everything that is important comes through in the expression of her voice. © 2013 My Classical Notes Read complete review

Robert Levine, July 2013

…Glyndebourne’s new Figaro…is a delight.

Isabel Leonard’s Cherubino is perfect—boyish and sassy and nimble. Class acts Ann Murray and Andrew Shore…are…a terrific Marzellina and Bartolo, and Alan Oke’s Basilio is snidely right-on. Sarah Shafer is a fine Barbarina…Oram’s luxurious sets add to the special feel of the production.

…this new one is fresh and charming and a good bet. © 2013 Read complete review
