Alide Kohlhaas
The Seniors Review, December 2014

Notre-Dame de Paris, a ballet from 1965 and choreographed by Roland Petit with music by Maurice Jarre and costumes by Yves Staint-Laurent, has been beautifully re-staged in 2013 at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan. In this production Quasimodo is danced by Roberto Bollo with breathtaking virtuosity. Following Petit’s original choreography he indicates the bell-ringer’s disfigured body through highly difficult movements only, which are absolutely stunning to watch. Equally stunning is Natalia Osipova as Esmeralda. Without a doubt, for me this ballet, captured on DVD, ranks as one of my most favourite 20th century works and so I highly recommend it to lovers of this wonderful art form. © 2014 The Seniors Review
