Jean-Christophe Maillot’s radical reimagining of Swan Lake buzzes with ferocious energy yet ultimately retains the story’s emotional heft. The Monte Carlo company’s immense commitment and impressive technique are demonstrated to the full in Denis Caïozzi’s imaginative direction for video. © 2015 MusicWeb International

Lac is packed with full-throttle dancing and quirky, occasionally over-the-top costumes. The White Swan pas de deux is a standout, full of playful tenderness, and there’s a clever plot twist at the end. Lac is a sexy, provocative and dazzling piece of theatre… © 2015 Dance International

Jean-Christophe Maillot’s choreography is simultaneously inventive and very attractive.

Denis Caïozzi’s direction for the screen is impeccable. He uses lots of long shots, so that we see all the busy on-stage action as well as keeping the dancers’ feet on show when we want to watch their technique. The technical quality of both picture and sound on the DVD are excellent.

[This]…is one of the most attractively presented realisations of the Swan lake story that I’ve seen for some time. © 2014 MusicWeb International Read complete review
