George Dorris
Ballet Review, September 2015

Recorded at Covent Garden with the splendid original cast and the fine orchestra led by David Briskin, Bob Crowley’s designs provide the right atmosphere as winter becomes spring. Ross MacGibbon’s filming keeps an appropriate focus on the dancing, while the extras include interviews with the choreographer, composer, and principal dancers. © 2015 Ballet Review

Lynn René Bayley
Fanfare, July 2015

[Talbot’s score] is generally magnificent…the richness and complexity of his music, particularly in rhythm, seemed to have at least partly inspired Wheeldon to some of his most innovative and creative dance moves, so in a sense this is a true collaboration between composer and choreographer. The Royal Ballet Orchestra plays magnificently throughout.

As an entity, a complete and indivisible work of art, The Winter’s Tale is a masterpiece and a complete triumph. Wholeheartedly recommended. © 2015 Fanfare Read complete review
