Corinne Winters and Angela Brower are adorable as sharply contrasting sisters. With her vaunted vocal and physical intensity and the posture if not the height of a goddess, Winters is a super-serious Fiordiligi—“like a rock” indeed. Brower’s Dorabella takes things much more lightly and is comically melodramatic, with goofy, rubber-faced expressions. Though Brower’s mezzo has a lower placement than Winters’ soprano, it also has the brighter timbre, so the voices and characterizations are quite apt.

Teaming a young, fine-acting, mostly lean-voiced cast with conductor Semyon Bychkov, a big-boned Mozartian better known for his Tchaikovsky and Strauss, seemed strange at first. But Bychkov’s strong chording is authoritative, the music scampers where it should, and the numbers that are slowest—“Un’aura amorosa,” “Per pietà,” “Fra gli amplessi”—are, with Behle and Winters, the musical and emotional high points. © 2018 Opera News

Bychkov stretches Fiordiligi’s second act ‘Per pieta’ nearly to its limit, but in doing so he gives soprano Corinne Winters ample space to make the most of this long aria’s emotional depths. Ms. Winters and the rest of the cast create full-blooded individuals that we care about. They are all admirably proficient and comfortable in this very demanding music, though the standout in terms of pure vocal beauty is tenor Daniel Behle as Ferrando. © 2018 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Angela Brower is an accomplished Dorabella, while Alessio Arduini’s silky baritone makes for a smooth Guglielmo. Daniel Behle copes with the slow tempos the best to deliver a beautiful ‘Un aura amorosa’. © 2018 Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone
