Elliot Fisch
American Record Guide, September 2017

The Royal Ballet is outstanding—the best version I’ve ever seen. It is very traditional with beautiful sets and costumes. The choreography is by Marius Petipa (from 1894) as adapted by Peter Wright. It is very intricate and is designed to show off the dancers’ technique and abilities. The dancing is exceptional; the two leads have an emotional connection that is palpable. Their body movements are lithe, the footwork is secure, and they look completely comfortable in these difficult roles. Nunez and Muntagirov are not only stupendous dancers, but they are convincing actors. The ballet ensemble is in perfect harmony with the leads. The peasant dances are brilliantly performed and the Willis dance flawlessly as they float across the stage. © 2017 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide
