Erin Heisel
American Record Guide, July 2014

Irish soprano Ailish Tynan’s full and supple voice adds new color and dimension to the songs…Iain Burnside’s playing is warm and sophisticated…Tynan’s simple, direct, and honest approach to it is heartbreakingly beautiful. © 2014 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

David Shengold
Opera News, May 2014

This disc of twenty-three songs sung by the young Irish soprano Ailish Tynan with Scottish pianist Iain Burnside offers much enjoyment. The mix chosen draws from both early and late works, the ultra-familiar (“Après un rêve” and “Clair de lune,” both ravishing songs) and the relatively obscure.

Tynan commands a pretty, light instrument that traces the music pleasantly at all speeds…Burnside’s contribution here is capable and worthy; I would discourage no one from sampling this very pleasant disc. © 2014 Opera News Read complete review

Jonathan Woolf
MusicWeb International, March 2014

The results are often very pleasing. The two musicians form a harmonious ensemble, like-minded as to tempi and weight of tone, as well as the often tricky business of apt characterisation.

This is a well thought-out recital, with variety and a sensible focus on two specific cycles…[it] offers some rewarding singing and musicianship, extremely well recorded. © 2014 MusicWeb International Read complete review
