Raymond Tuttle
Fanfare, May 2013

It was a whim that led me to request this CD for review. I had never even heard of Walter Braunfels, after all. Moments after beginning to play it, however, I knew that my instincts were good, because this music is rather special, and deserves to be known by a broader audience.

The Symphonic Variations…is a sophisticated yet ebullient and good-natured work…

The large Toccata, Adagio, and Fugue for organ…is worth a listen.

I am astonished that none of these works have been recorded previously. I am thankful that Albrecht and his colleagues have presented them so ably. These are gorgeous performances of important music. © 2013 Fanfare Read complete review

American Record Guide, March 2013

Performances sound good, even the kiddies singing reasonably well. Albrecht, both as conductor and soloist in the Toccata, seems on top of his job. © 2013 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Barry Forshaw
Classical CD Choice, November 2012

While not immediately revealing their secrets, these world premiere recordings put a neglected composer in a new light. Presented here are three key works by Walter Braunfels (1882–1954); the Konzert for Organ, Boys Choir and Orchestra, the Toccata, Adagio and Fugue and the Symphonic Variations, all dispatched with enthusiasm, if the organ (so crucial here) is a little recessed in the sound picture. © 2012 Classical CD Choice
