Daniel Morrison
Fanfare, November 2016

The Delian performance is a fine one, precisely articulated and compellingly shaped. …the Delian’s tempos are on the quick side… All of those tempos seem well chosen and tend to be firmly sustained. Despite broader pacing, the Delian players maintain a riveting intensity in the finale, with towering climaxes enhanced by the tonal weight they are able to generate. © 2016 Fanfare Read complete review

American Record Guide, September 2016

Serenity is the watchword for this collection. The Delian Quartet, a fairly young group from Germany, takes a very calm approach to Shostakovich, though they’re never placid, lazy or boring, nor do they gloss over anything. It’s an unusual tack, even for the relatively sunny Fourth and Sixth Quartets, but it’s a rewarding one. The Theatrical Suite suits them especially well, light-hearted pieces that Elizabeth Wilson collected from the scores to Hamlet and The Human Comedy. © 2016 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Tim Homfray
The Strad, April 2016

The players generate massive power in the prelude of the Piano Quintet, and by its close they have the majesty of an orchestra. The fugue is played largely with plain tone and minimum expression, framing its central angst.

…a fine CD, with warm and focused recorded sound. © 2016 The Strad Read complete review
