Johan van Veen
MusicWeb International, May 2014

This recording shows that Zarlino’s motets are beautiful and compelling, and that there is no reason to ignore them…I have greatly enjoyed this disc. The ensemble is very good and the voices blend well.

This disc firmly puts Zarlino on the map as a composer in his own right: he should be more than just a name in history books and encyclopedias. © 2014 MusicWeb International Read complete review

Catherine Moore
American Record Guide, January 2014

These are deeply moving performances of splendid music, heartfelt and beautiful. …the intonation is without blemish, rich with depth and shadows, accurate and poised, but never sterile or aloof. Tempos perfectly allow the music to breathe, the long cantus firmus lines to sing, and the quicker contrapuntal tendrils to caress.

This is music of the highest order, and all aspects of this release exemplify the best practices in musical performance, scholarship, and recording. © 2014 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide
