Raymond Tuttle
Fanfare, March 2017

I think that this is the first time I have heard Weigle’s work. On the basis of this CD, I would say that he is a sensitive, anti-bombastic conductor with a great ear for orchestral color, and someone who believes that Strauss’s day on the mountain should be, overall, a lyrical one. There’s much tenderness here—for example, in “Auf blumigen Wiesen” and “Auf der Alm.” You can feel the nervous anticipation in the pit of your stomach in “Stille vor dem Sturm,” and when the storm finally breaks, it breaks with a fury. © 2017 Fanfare Read complete review

American Record Guide, January 2017

This Alpine is sweeping, powerful, bracing when it needs to be, as well as coherent, well thought out, and cleanly phrased. The Frankfurt orchestra has the right color for Strauss, and the sound is excellent. …best of the new ones I have heard. © 2017 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Hugo Shirley
Gramophone, November 2016

Weigle’s is not an Alpine Symphony in the wide-screen, Technicolor mode but a performance defined by a wonderful lyrical generosity, complete control of the work’s 50-minute span and orchestral playing in which every note seems to reflect the drama that is being played out—physical turning metaphysical as the work progresses. © 2016 Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone

Alain Steffen
Pizzicato, September 2016

Sebastian Weigle cares less for an opulent sound than for an amazing richness of details and so, the listener is able to discover a lot of new colours, new accents new nuances and shades. A truly great and highly attention-grabbing performance! © 2016 Pizzicato
