John T. Hughes
International Record Review, January 2015

Westbroek has a fitting voice for this role. It has the heft, with something of a bite and a touch of wildness in the timbre, and to all she brings intensity and shows determination. The Uruguayan tenor Carlo Ventre is strong and secure vocally as Dick Johnson, steady of emission and as emotively fervent as his colleague, making with her a powerful combination. The orchestra of the Frankfurt Oper is often very insistent…the performance is commendable. © 2015 International Record Review

Richard Sininger
American Record Guide, November 2014

The orchestra under Sebastian Weigle plays the score expertly, and the large cast of miners is excellent, including the very good sheriff of Ashley Holland. Eva-Maria Westbroek offers a sincere portrayal of Minnie. © 2014 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

conducted with sweep and subtlety by Sebastian Weigle. The winning cast is headed by the gleaming, expressive soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek as Minnie, the title character. © 2014 The New York Times Read complete review

Richard Fairman
Gramophone, August 2014

Eva-Maria Westbroek and Carlo Ventre, Minnie and Dick Johnson, throw themselves heart and soul into their roles…Westbroek is womanly and romantic, feisty and independent, a fully rounded portrayal of Puccini’s golden girl…Ventre is…wholehearted and ardent, a worthy match overall for his Minnie. Ashley Holland makes a thoroughly menacing Jack Rance…[and] the Frankfurt orchestra play well… © 2014 Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone

Robert Levine
ClassicsToday.com, July 2014

…Sebastien Weigle leads a wonderfully integrated cast and performance, filled with excitement and tension. The recording is as clear as a bell and as spacious as Puccini’s expressionistic score needs. This is a fine recording; perhaps the best non-private one on the market… © 2014 ClassicsToday.com Read complete review

Manuel Ribeiro
Pizzicato, May 2014

In this first rate recording of Puccini’s ‘La Fanciulla del West’, Eva-Maria Westbroek is a superb Minnie. Her singing as well as the one from the other singers is complemented by Sebastian Weigle’s vivid conducting. © 2014 Pizzicato
