Michael Ullman
Fanfare, May 2014

Tetzlaff and Vogt sound fully committed to Schumann’s lyricism, and occasional eccentricity. They play passionately, and with attention to the composer’s sometimes fleeting moods. Tetzlaff has a full, rich, impassioned tone, and Vogt is equally forthright. Not everyone is a fan of the later Schumann compositions…But certainly they deserve the respectful, skilled, and musical performances we hear on this disc. © 2014 Fanfare Read complete review

There’s no doubting the rewarding partnership of Christian Tetzlaff and Lars Vogt in this admirable account. Their partnership is equal throughout—there is never any hint of the piano as mere accompaniment. Piercing intelligence and verve illuminate each movement. © 2014 BBC Music Magazine

Violinist Christian Tetzlaff and pianist Lars Vogt are in great form on their CD of the Schumann Violin Sonatas…

Tetzlaff and Vogt apparently immersed themselves in Schumann’s late works in preparation for this recording, and it shows; their playing is warm and fluent, and they clearly have a great affinity for the material on a terrific CD. © 2014 The WholeNote Read complete review

Gramophone, January 2014

Anyone familiar with Christian Tetzlaff’s Gramophone Award-winning recording of Schumann’s piano trios…will not be surprised to hear that this is every bit as compelling. There’s been a change of incumbent on the piano stool, with Leif Ove Andsnes now replaced by Lars Vogt, but the results are every bit as revelatory and I’d be surprised if it’s not a strong contender in the 2014 Awards.

This, quite simply, wipes the floor with the competition. If you have the slightest interest in Schumann’s chamber music, add it to your shelves. © Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone, November 2013

Schumann’s three violin sonatas receive sensitive and elegant readings from Christian Tetzlaff and Lars Vogt on a new Ondine CD. Tetzlaff and Vogt handle the sonatas with skill and sure inter-instrumental communication, passing the themes and accompaniments easily back and forth and keeping the music’s flow moving smoothly and often elegantly. Lovers of Schumann and of the violin-and-piano repertoire will find this well-recorded disc a lovely gift. © 2013 Read complete review
