Marc Medwin
Fanfare, July 2017

Have you ever said a word or phrase to yourself long enough for it to stop making sense? That very act was conjured for me while listening to Seat Belt Seat Belt, the centerpiece of this welcome reissue of text pieces by composer and maverick radio personality Charles Amirkhanian. For many years, he has been broadening the horizons of those interested in the most radical and revolutionary contemporary music, and this disc of his own compositions, resonating with his immediately recognizable voice, is no exception.

I don’t often label music as groundbreaking, as most of it really is not, but Other Minds seems to have quite a lot of it all under one roof; the present offering is just another entry in an excellent catalog. © 2017 Fanfare Read complete review

The WholeNote, April 2017

Amirkhanian serves as the primary vocalist on the album. His percussionist training coupled with his mellow, articulate, radio voice lends rhythmic precision, polished tone and a sense of gravitas to his recordings. © 2017 The WholeNote Read complete review
