Christian Hoskins
Gramophone, November 2016

Luisi’s interpretation is marked by scrupulous observance of dynamics, a finely balanced orchestral palate and rock-steady tempi. As far as I can tell, this is the first recording of a Bruckner symphony by the Philharmonia Zurich (the orchestra of Zurich Opera), but one would never know it from their idiomatic and cultivated playing. With clear and spacious sound, the result is at least as fine as any other recording of the 1887 score currently available. © 2016 Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone

Huntley Dent
Fanfare, September 2016

This is an eloquent reading, not to mention one of the slowest on records, that boasts a particularly moving account of the first two movements. …Luisi sets out to “play big” in the Bruckner Eighth, but his phrasing is unusually sensitive, and there’s added excitement in the way he tiers the brass-and-timpani climaxes. © 2016 Fanfare Read complete review
