Robert Maxham
Fanfare, September 2016

Wilson plays these sonatas on a generally sweet-toned (although occasionally strident, especially in the higher registers) violin by Jacob Stainer from 1659. In general she avoids the extreme starchiness of some period performances, but that tempering might be due more to the violin’s unique voice than to a conscious decision on her part.

This is urgently recommended to specialized listeners: particularly to those intrigued by the influence of Arcangelo Corelli on his contemporaries and immediate followers, but also to those who delight in a good story well told, and also to those who admire the violins of Jacob Stainer, so well adapted timbrally to bringing the music of this period to vibrant life. © 2016 Fanfare Read complete review

John W Barker
American Record Guide, July 2016

Wilson is a careful and able player, with a tidy if not spectacular tone, her limited vibrato covered by well-centered tone. Lindorff’s playing is, of course, authoritative. © 2016 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

Both artists deliver fine performances; Nancy Wilson shows her technical prowess in the more demanding movements and sonatas. © 2016 MusicWeb International Read complete review
