Daniel Morrison
Fanfare, July 2017

The Casal Quartet plays [Titz’s] with precision, refinement, and tonal suavity, if perhaps with too much emotional reticence in the slow movement. There is no indication that period instruments are used, but the playing shows signs of “historically informed practice” in the limited vibrato the players employ. There is, however, none of the abrasive tone and idiosyncratic phrasing and dynamics displayed by some period-instrument ensembles. © 2017 Fanfare Read complete review

Uwe Krusch
Pizzicato, March 2017

Chamber music works from a time, when this genre was just establishing itself in Russia. The development is well traced by the marvellous Casal Quartet. The fairly unknown Third Quartet by Titz and the well-known first contribution by Tchaikovsky frame Glazunov’s catchy Novelettes. © 2017 Pizzicato
