VITALI, G.B.: Sonate da camera (Italico Splendore) TC632206
VITALI, G.B.: Sonate da camera, Op. 14 - Suites Nos. 1-6 (Italico Splendore) TC632202

I have enjoyed both discs. Italico Splendore is a fine ensemble, and explores the features of both collections to the full. In the Op. 11 performances, the dance rhythms come off very well, thanks to an excellent articulation and a clear dynamic differentiation between 'good' and 'bad' notes. They show that no percussion is needed to make the listener feel the dance rhythms.

The project of recording Vitali's output is important and the performances I have heard are good or even outstanding. This is the first review devoted to discs in this series. More will follow in due course. © 2020 musica Dei donum Read complete review

Catherine Moore
American Record Guide, July 2020

Thanks to the interpretive imagination of Italico Splendore, this is not chamber music to sit to. Instead, it is to dance to. The ensemble “has chosen to enhance this composition by using its modules as drafts to be enriched with various timbres through the introduction of wind and percussion instruments”. It is sumptuous and evocative in a way worthy of a great European capital such as the court of Francesco II in Modena. © 2020 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide

…I have enjoyed the playing of Italico Splendore, and the concept has certainly been realised very well. As dance music these ‘sonatas’ are very good entertainment, helped by the engaging and lively playing. © 2020 MusicWeb International Read complete review
