Catherine Moore
American Record Guide, March 2020

There is nice variety in timbre, with recorders, tromba, harpsichord, viola da gamba, harp, and organ among the accompanying instruments. Most pieces are for one voice (either soprano or contralto), and the finest performances are sung by soprano Miho Kamiya. Bewitching passages in the 16—minute ‘Mostro D’Orgoglio’ convey ethereal otherworldliness ; and thrilling passion abounds in ‘D’Onnipotente Padre’, where the singer and harpsichord are expressive companions depicting the Virgin’s lament on Good Friday. Effortless top notes and a nice ebb and flow in the pulse animate ‘O Del Celtico Scettro’, and low recorders with gamba carry the descending ground bass line of ‘Passan Veloci L’Ore’ under the singer’s sweet languid lines. © 2020 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide
