Like "l'Orfeo" recently reviewed here, this excellent made-for-television production features the same directors, and is notable for its highly-stylised, timeless production. This is Monteverdi's next-to-last opera, and is based on text adpated from Homer's 'Odyssey'. The action is highly varied, and runs the gamut of human emotions both light and serious. Yet this production is somewhat static compared to l'Orfeo, which I recall as riveting. An illustrated synopsis is included.
