This recording of La Bohème dating from July 1951, features an illustrious cast of the most significant singers of their generation, including Renata Tebaldi as Mimì and the inspired casting of Hilde Gueden as Musetta. Under the expert baton of Alberto Erede the cast and orchestra give a youthful and sensitive performance full of dramatic vigour. The highlights selection, which concludes the second CD, was recorded in New York, between 1949 and 1951. It features the golden voice of Giuseppe di Stefano as Rodolfo at the zenith of his powers. This is the first time these excerpts from La Bohème have been released in their entirety outside the United States.
