BARRY: Orchestral Works
Gerald Barry has earned an international reputation for music of great subtlety and invention. This is heard in Of Queen’s Gardens, derived from his opera The Intelligence Park, Chevaux-de-frise, drawing from material from the wrecked ships of the Spanish Armada and the ballet Sur les pointes, commissioned by Bremen City Ballet. Not music for the faint-hearted, Barry’s work is couched in a style that is forceful and gripping, and fascinatingly original in its wide terms of reference.
