SCARLATTI, D.: Keyboard Sonatas (Complete), Vol. 1
What would Scarlatti have thought of the modern grand piano? That is the question that intrigues today’s pianists, who feel frustrated when harpsichordists claim sole possession of the 555 sonatas he wrote for that instrument. Born in Italy, but having spent much of his life in the Iberian peninsula, the popularity of this monumental volume remains undiminished today. They are here performed on a concert grand by one of the finest Georgian pianists, Eteri Andjaparidze, the youngest competitor to have won a prize in the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow.
