MOZART, W.A.: Piano Duets, Vol. 1 (Jandó, Kollár)
Although it is for his symphonies, concertos and operas that Mozart is best remembered, he also wrote extensively for the solo keyboard, having made his début as soloist at the age of six. This recording presents some of his least known music, for piano duet. Whether it is the precocious Sonata K. 19d, written at the age of nine, or the Sonata K. 521, written only four years before Mozart’s death, which recalls the idiom and the turbulence of the great piano concertos of the period, these works offer charm, elegance and brilliance in abundance.
