DUPRE: Works for Organ, Vol. 8
Born in France in 1886, Marcel Dupré became the most famous organistcomposer of the twentieth century, his substantial catalogue of works devoted to the instrument. As a performer he became renowned for his brilliant improvisations, and from one of these was derived the Symphonie-Passion, providing a glorious array of tonal colours and dynamic contrasts. It is one of the most important and imposing works composed for large organ.
