ROSSINI: Sonatas for Wind Quartet Nos. 1-6

Rossini is principally remembered today for his comic operas whose wit, speed, and elegance are perennially fresh. These characteristics are shared by the String Sonatas recorded here in a contemporary arrangement for Wind Quartet by Frédéric Berr. Although relatively early works, they clearly show the hand of a master, with their numerous memorable tunes and rhythmic high spirits.
