BRAHMS, J.: Four-Hand Piano Music, Vol. 6 (Matthies, Köhn)
Brahms was an accomplished pianist, whose output for the piano spanned his entire life. In addition to his solo works he made four-hand piano arrangements of many of his orchestral and vocal scores, to give them greater accessibility. Symphony No. 1 is here coupled with one of his lesser-known works, the Triumphlied, written in honour of those killed in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870 and originally scored for baritone, chorus and orchestra.
