Oh Flanders Free: Music of the Flemish Renaissance
During the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries Franco-Flemish composers and musicians acted as cultural ambassadors, with a sphere of influence that stretched from the court of Henry VII in England to the states of Northern Italy. Flemish music was heard at the most prestigious courts and cathedrals in Europe and this recording presents a cross-section of that music in all its variety; from Gregorian chant to Masses, motets, madrigals, chansons and dance music.
