Johann Sebastian Bach was one of the great organists of the early eighteenth century, his church appointments leading to a vast catalogue of sacred compositions. The scope of his secular music however, is distorted by Bach's frequent use of the same music rearranged for different instruments. The present disc is a perfect example of these dual-purpose compositions, the music being harpsichord adaptations of the famous violin concertos. Source material and end product are here demonstrated by the Concerto for three harpsichords, with the same work performed as it would have originally been composed for three violins.
