SIBELIUS: Piano Music, Vol. 3
Sibelius’s piano works are less frequently performed than his more popular compositions, such as the symphonies and tone poems. Although he was not instinctively a composer for the keyboard, he wrote works for the instrument throughout his life. Technically they are not demanding works, but abound in pleasant and tuneful melodies, quite different from the dramatic and rugged orchestral works. All his music for piano is skilfully composed, making the most of the instrument’s wide range of tone colour. This is the third volume in the complete piano music, 26 works in all.
