ENGLISH STRING MINIATURES, Vol. 3
In addition to music by two senior members of the twentieth century English musical community, Gustav Holst and Gerald Finzi, this third volume includes works written by composers perhaps better known in the worlds of stage, screen and broadcasting or as educators. Bruce Montgomery, composer of all the “Doctor” and the first four “Carry On” films, wrote a number of substantial concert works, including the Concertino of 1950, which combines echoes of the English tradition of the previous fifty years with a post-war realism.
