LISZT: Organ Works, Vol. 2
The more reflective and introspective side of Liszt’s multi-faceted character may be seen in an extensive catalogue of keyboard music for both the piano and organ. While some of the organ music derives from earlier piano works, such as the ever-popular Consolations, many of Liszt’s compositions for the organ were entirely original. The most extensive of these push even the most powerful organ to its limits, exploiting the instrument’s unique ability to create musical colour and a sense of grandeur.
