The Milanese composer, Elisabetta Brusa, has described her music as expressing “a multitude of widely differing musical and personal feelings and states of minds, with messages of faith and hope for a positive and peaceful future at a time of uncertainty and anxiety”. Embodying a neo-tonal language and technique, the five compositions on this disc present an excellent overview of her work, united in their inspiration by various literary and musical masterpieces including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a fable by Aesop, Leonardo da Vinci’s The Deluge and Schumann’s imaginary character, Florestan.
