BACH, J.S.: Guitar Transcriptions
Bach wrote and transcribed works for the lute, a common instrument during his lifetime. Various transcriptions of these and other works have been made for the guitar, an instrument well suited to handling the contrapuntal textures of different types of composition. This recording includes transcriptions for guitar of music originally intended for the unaccompanied flute (the Partita in A minor), the solo keyboard (the two Preludes and the lament from Capriccio on the Departure of his Most Beloved Brother), Bach’s arrangement of an Oboe Concerto by the Italian composer Alessandro Marcello, and an unaccompanied Sonata for violin.
