String Quartet Recital: Aviv Quartet
The Aviv Quartet was founded in 1997 and has since appeared at many venues throughout Israel and abroad, including the Auditorium Louvre in Paris and the Wigmore Hall in London. In April 1999, the Aviv Quartet was awarded first prize – the Amadeus Quartet Prize – in the Charles Hennen International Competition in Heerlen, Holland. In the same year the Quartet also won the first Grand Prize in the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and in 2003 was awarded the M. Landau Prize and the Israeli Lottery Prize for special achievements, as well as the special interpretation ‘Death and the Maiden’ prize and second prize at the Graz Schubert Competition. Most recently the Quartet shared the main prize and won the prestigious Critics’ prize at the 2003 Concours International de Quatuor à Cordes de Bordeaux.
