The tango has always retained its image of a dance unashamedly erotic in character and such was indeed its origin. Developed in the poorer dockland districts of Buenos Aires, the tango spread throughout Europe after its introduction to Parisian society by Camille de Rhynal, a dance teacher who in 1907 rounded off the rough edges and jerky movements considered to be too coarse for the ballroom. This collection of tango arrangements by Peter Breiner includes three works by Astor Piazzolla, master of the tango as well as the million selling Jealousy by Jacob Gade and So In Love, by Cole Porter.
