BUXTEHUDE: Organ Music, Vol. 5
This fifth volume of organ music by one of the greatest German composers for the instrument includes free preludes, a form in which Buxtehude excelled, as well as preludes based on familiar Lutheran chorales, part of a repertoire that brought musical distinction to the city of Lübeck in the second half of the seventeenth century. Of particular note are the two chorale fantasias, Nun freut euch and Ich ruf zu dir, and the impressive Toccatas with which the recording starts and ends.
