HELPS: Shall We Dance / Piano Quartet / Postlude / Nocturne
As a concert pianist, Robert Helps performed with conductors such as Pierre Monteux; as one of America’s most remarkable composers, he had his First Symphony premièred by Leopold Stokowski and the San Francisco Symphony. Robert Helps came to Berlin for the first time in 1997 and again in 2000, where a new audience, similar to the one he has in America, came deeply to admire his music, his piano playing and his presence. His Nocturne for String Quartet was performed on the opening program of Spectrum Concerts Berlin on January 22nd, 1988. The release of this CD was made possible with the generous support of the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, Inc. and the Robert Helps Music Trust.
