Franz Liszt’s two surviving piano concertos are unusual in form, the first being described by Bartók as “the first perfect realisation of cyclic sonata form”, and the second unfolding in a single continuous movement. Both concertos were originally scored for two pianos and this is their première recording in this instrumentation.
